Commercial pest control in Ontario

IPM-based pest control for restaurants, offices, warehouses and landlords. Inspect, identify, treat, follow up.

A pest sighting costs a business more than the pest itself. Customers leave, stock is lost and tenants complain. Our commercial service is built to find the cause and keep it from coming back.

How does Pest Emergency handle commercial pest control?

The steps are the same as for homes.

  1. Inspect. We walk the premises, inside and out, and look at storage, waste areas and entry points.
  2. Identify. We confirm which pests are present and where they are active.
  3. Treat. We choose targeted treatments and note what staff or tenants can fix.
  4. Follow up. We recheck and adjust the plan.

This is Integrated Pest Management (IPM). It puts prevention and monitoring ahead of routine spraying. See our IPM approach for details.

What does commercial pest control include?

  • A premises inspection
  • Pest identification
  • Treatment for the pests found
  • Advice on sanitation, storage and building repairs
  • Follow-up visits

The common pests are cockroaches, rodents, ants and wasps, along with bed bugs in hotels and rental buildings. Our cockroach control and rodent control pages explain those treatments in more detail.

Do restaurants and food businesses need regular pest control?

Food premises carry extra pressure to stay pest-free, so most operators plan regular service. Check the current requirements for your premises with your local public health unit. Toronto Public Health recommends consulting a licensed pest control operator about IPM for food premises.

Cockroaches are the pest food operators worry about most. Learn about cockroaches and our German cockroach guide.

Records

Keeping a log of sightings, inspections and treatments helps you show a health inspector what you have done. Ask us what documentation you need and what we can provide. We will confirm it in writing in your quote.

What is IPM and why do auditors ask about it?

IPM is a way of controlling pests that starts with inspection and monitoring, fixes the causes, and uses treatment where it is needed. Some food-safety programs and municipal by-laws ask for an IPM approach, which is why auditors and inspectors may ask about it. Check what your own audit or by-law requires.

How do property managers handle tenant pest complaints?

Start by treating every complaint as information about the whole building, not a single unit. Pests such as cockroaches and rodents travel between units.

Some cities set rules for landlords, such as written pest plans or notice to tenants. Check the requirements that apply to your building with your municipality.

Good practice for multi-unit buildings:

  • Log complaints with the date and unit
  • Inspect neighbouring units, not just the reporting one
  • Give tenants clear notice and prep instructions
  • Follow up after treatment

Offices, warehouses and retail

Offices see ants and the odd rodent. Warehouses face rodents and insects drawn to stored goods and loading doors. Retail stores deal with pests that arrive in deliveries. Inspections focus on dock doors, waste areas, break rooms and storage.

Common questions

Do you offer ongoing service for restaurants?

Yes. Pest pressure in food premises is steady, so recurring inspection and treatment makes sense. Tell us about your premises and we will recommend a schedule in your quote.

What paperwork do you provide?

We can discuss the documentation you need when you request a quote. Tell us if you need records for a landlord, insurer or health inspector, and we will confirm what we can provide.

How do you handle shared buildings?

We inspect common areas and neighbouring units where access allows, because pests move through shared walls and pipes. We work with the property manager on notices to tenants and on follow-up.

Can you work around business hours?

We plan visits with you to limit disruption. Tell us your opening hours and sensitive areas when you request a quote. We are not a 24-hour service, so we schedule within our working hours.

Do you serve my city?

We serve Ontario only. Our service area list is on the site, and we are adding more. If your city is not listed, send a quote request and we will tell you.

How fast is the quote?

We send quote details within 30 minutes of your request. This is the quote time, not a visit time. We then arrange an inspection with you.
