Who we are
PestEmergency.ca is a pest control business serving homes and businesses in Ontario. This policy covers pestemergency.ca and thequote requests sent through it.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote, we collect what you type into the form:
- your postal code, the pest, how urgent it is and the type of property
- your name and phone number
- your email address and a message, if you choose to add them
- whether you agreed to hear from us for marketing, if that option is offered
- the page you were on when you sent the request
To prevent abuse, we also keep a salted hash of your IP address. A hash is a scrambled value we cannot turn back into your address. We never collect payment details on this site.
Why we use it
We use your details to answer your quote request and to contact you about it. The hashed IP address and a bot check help us block spam and repeat submissions. We do not sell personal information.
We use your approximate city, worked out by our host from your internet connection, only to show local information on the page. We do not store it.
Who processes it
Some companies handle data for us:
- Cloudflare hosts the website, stores quote requests in its D1 database, runs the Turnstile bot check and sends us one email about each request.
- Google (Gmail) holds that email and our replies to you. We do not send automatic emails to the address you give us; we only reply ourselves.
- Google Analytics and Google Ads measure site visits and ad results, only if you accept cookies.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics and Google Ads set cookies that show us which pages and ads help people. They do not load unless you choose Accept cookies in the banner. If you choose Reject, they never load.
To change your choice, use the Cookie settings button in the footer of any page. If you withdraw consent, Google stops collecting from then on; cookies already set stay in your browser until you clear them.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests for 24 months, then delete them. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Where it is stored
Cloudflare and Google run global services, so they may process information outside Canada. Information held in another country can be subject to that country's laws.
Your choices and rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also withdraw consent, including for analytics and marketing, at any time.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada atpriv.gc.ca.
